First, I love this game. I haven’t enjoyed a game this much in a looking time. The story is unique and thrilling, the graphics are amazing and I’ve actually completed the while ain storyline quest, excited to see what comes next, something I rarely accomplish before becoming bored.

However, the camera and combat mechanics are so frustrating. I debated weather to give thus game 3 or 4 stars and finally decided (unfortunately) on 3 because the bad camera and combat mechanics gave both resulted in multiple deaths.

The 3rd person camera view makes jumping hard because in order to see where I’m jumping or climbing I have to move the camera to the side and then Aloy doesn’t jump straight. I’ve fallen to my death multiple times because I either can’t see in front of Aloy to align her correctly or I’ve moved the camera to one side in an attempt to see and then she jumps at an angle and misses the target. The camera, being behind Aloy, also frequently has plants or other obstacles obscuring its view so I can’t see anything, resulting in falls or missed attacks. Sometimes Aloy is on the very edge of concealing tall grass but the grass is still in the way of the camera when trying to attack resulting in misses.

Also both the spear and bow aim/striking is off. When striking an enemy RIGHT IN FRONT of Aloy the spear or arrow passes right through the enemy 5-6 times in a row. I was just trying to kill an enemy Glinthawk hovering right in front of me, I used nearly all my health potions and used up 30 arrows with only 4 strikes. I watched arrow after arrow pass right through the middle of its body with no damage.

Sometimes controls don’t work. Such as silent attacks or descending climbing routes. The onscreen message will appear to press certain control for a silent attack or to drop down to a hand hold but when I press the button the corresponding actio. Doesn’t happen. Again, I’ve fallen to my death instead of dropping to a handhold or been killed by enemies when I’m supposed to do a silent attack but that doesn’t happen and Aloy just jumps out of hiding reveals herself with a spear strike instead (spear strike and silent attack use same controller button).

Also the audio is difficult. I often can’t hear speech over ambient or machine noise or music. I’ve tried changing the audio levels which helps some but at other times it doesn’t matter what levels I’ve set the audio to, it reverts to a universally loud and jumbled mess, like if it’s a cut scene, and I cant hear speach. I miss important mission dialogue that I can’t play back. If I’m listening to one of the recorded voice messages scattered around the world and another character or communication speaks at the same time, all I hear is the recorded voice. I can stop/start the recorded messages but too often I stop it too late and I’ve missed dialogue. Why the game allows these audios to play at the same time I don’t know. Other games I’ve played stop/start other unimportant game audio and lower ambient and music when mission/game critical communications play.

Beautiful and interesting game, but needs improvement.

Bought this for my son. He really loves the game but the code for the extra downloadable content was expired by a year. Super disappointed about that!

Absolutely one of the greatest games of the generation. Without a doubt it is the best and most original story written for this generation.

I am one of those rare gamers that value above all a solid story. It is then easy to understand that I have been missing games like this because apparently a story driven game is not among the highest things in the wishes of most gamers.

Horizon Zero Dawn is right there in the top of the generation for me, with The Witcher III.

I am really hoping that I love THE last of Us part II even a little as much as I liked the first, because again, there are quite a few enjoyable games in this generation but just a Few with a decent story. Three or four with a very good or better one.

Horizon Zero Dawn is for me, the best story and the greatest narrative in a game in a very long time. I didn’t play the game in my PS4 Pro, but even in the regular PS4 the graphics are also amazing. Mechanics are good and fighting is challenging but having recently finished Nioh (the greatest fighting game I have ever played), and being currently playing Sekiro, I should say fighting is decent in the game, even good, but it is not the most remarkable
Thing in the game. Play this one for a great, deep, Engaging, original story.

It develops in a lush, vivid, open world where you will find incredible adventures along the way.

I started The Frozen Wilds Expansion and couldn’t go past the first 30
Minutes because life got in the middle. I will try to post here about it when I finish it.

My top single player campaigns of the current gen;

1.- Horizon Zero Dawn and The Witcher III.
2. Nioh.
3. Spiderman
4. Metal Gear Solid V : The Phantom Pain.
5. God of War.

I am not a huge fan of RPGs, but the great story of this game and the incredible open world and great, natural progression of The Witcher III make them

This games sells so cheap these days that I can tell you that if you like story driven games, these could be the best 12uSD ever spent in a video game. I got mine for 10 and those were by far the most enjoyable 10 I have ever spent in a video game and probably the best 10 period.

Just get it, play it and be delighted.

It’s a great game, came in good condition and was new and factory sealed. Only problem with it is the cover and inside pamphlet are in Spanish which I can’t read. Disc art is in English. As for the pamphlet, I am guessing it’s the code for the DLC?? Can not tell since I don’t read Spanish. It also took a full week to come from Vegas by 3rd party which just handed it to the post office. (Standard ground by usps from Vegas to me is 3 days…). One lost star for the shipping. Don’t worry about it being in Spanish, when you start to play, you can select the language like most games. Definitely worth buying if you are interested in this game.
