Having grown up during the explosion of the Pokémon craze, I felt it was important for my kids to experience Pokémon. Having done a bit of research I decided this was the right one for him to start with.
He absolutely loves it. He’s gone from being uninterested in Pokémon to completely obsessed with it. Easy enough to play, and he’s managed to learn and catch Pokémon qiickly. Happy he’s discovered something other than dinosaurs to love. 😁
Easy for him to play, he’s completed the Lego Jurassic World game so this is a good extra step up challenge wise for him. Happy with my purchase, will start me own character on it soon enough.

The game is fun and honestly one of the better new gimmicks that pokemon has tried in the past few generations, the game is unforgiving after passing a certain level, but I feel that gives the game its genuine charm and healthy amount of challenge. The frame rate can be very sluggish in high textured areas, even with the updates they have made since launch, but it is in no way game breaking. I have had a lot of clipping or pokemon appear or register out of walking areas of the map, but it has never happened in a way where I was forced to reset to continue. It’s worth a try in my opinion but don’t expect botw level graphics and polish.

Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve truly enjoyed a Pokemon game – and this is what I’d always dreamed of for the franchise… being able to run around the wilderness, catching Pokemon. What’s not to love?!
Sure, the graphics / art style could be improved, and a voice track added, but they’ll sadly never bother with that.

It’s just Pokémon game but a different style of playing. Rather than catching one Pokémon to fill your Pokédex you have to do other things or catch more. A lot of running back and forth to finish quests but still a fun game.

This game blew me away. I’m in my thirties and hadn’t played a Pokemon game since the yellow edition on Gameboy Color as a kid – not even Pokemon GO. I highly recommend this game to Pokemon fans (especially for the more experienced player that can operate the controller sufficiently, as opposed to a young kid who is still learning coordination and holding the controller). Have some patience to get through the story setup and you should be enjoying yourself in no time. The controls are more advanced than I expected, and in the best way possible. It makes for a very engaging, immersive, and interactive experience. You can control so much of your character (i.e. aiming and throwing the Pokeballs, luring or dodging wild Pokemon, and engaging with the environment around you). Plus, I think the story is very creative and fresh.
Overall, great game. Good challenge, very fun, endlessly playable, very happy with my purchase.
