The game itself is great, a spectular flying game. However if you are hoping this physical copy will allow you to skirt around having to intstall a big update, youre wrong! Inside the box is two discs, and if you install your game offline, the size comes out to 88GB total. However, you CANNOT LAUNCH THE GAME OFF OF THE DISC INSTALL.

I had assumed the physical version would allow for a completely offline version of the game. The digital version of this game has a 47GB download that contains a low detail version of the earth, so you can fly offline after the download. Despite having that large 88GB size on the two discs, you are immediately prompted to go online. You cant just fly around a low detail world. You cant launch the game!

Whats worse, is that when you do go online, you are immediately prompted to download a 45GB update. Thats the amount of data I just spent install from disc 2! You cant play until you download it!

No where on the packaging does it say internet is required. Physical versions of Call of Duty games say this, The Crew 2 says this. Microsoft Flight Sim requires internet BUT THE BOX DOESNT SAY IT.

If you have a data limit or have bad/no internet, DO NOT BUY THIS. In fact, you probably wont be ever able to play this game. What Microsoft is selling here is just a useless piece of plastic. Why they even bothered to put 88GB of whatever is on it is beyond me. I know digital media is becoming the new norm, but when you sell a physical version of a game, the assumption is you can play it without internet, period. Not install 88GB only to be told you need to download an extra 45GB to launch it.

Yes you can play the game offline after going online. But if I wanted to do that, I would have bought the game digitally, not waste my time waiting for a piece of plastic to come in the mail.

Overall, game is good, but this physical version is a waste of time.

I was a bit apprehensive about trying this on my Xbox. I have used Flight Simulator on PC for the past 25+ years and have enjoyed learning about flying and a lot of activities as well. I was excited to see that MSFS had released a new version, so I wanted something that would work on my Xbox Series X unit. It is a BIG installation process that took well over an hour to complete. Once installed though, the program runs very well and without any issues…even at the highest resolution. It is a blast to play on my 100″ projector screen in my media room. Lots of activities and lots of learning. Most popular places are rendered well and with great detail. The controls took a bit to learn, but I’m getting the hang of it.

Dudaba que me gustara tanto un juego, y dudaba que una consola de videojuegos fuera capaz de correr un juego con tanta demanda gráfica, pero me sorprendió, y espero que ustedes tengan la posibilidad de probar este juego.

I’ve been waiting for Flight Sim now since it was announced many many years ago. I’ve been playin the MS Flight Sim’s since I was a kid on MS-DOS, then 2002, then FSX. After FSX started getting long in the toot, I think we all went to X plane, which is great in itself, but needs a decent PC to run it. That’s where the flight sim’s kind of faded away for me. Then when MS announced this new version I was stoked, but also troubled knowing it’ll need a monster PC to run it. Then it cam out nearly 2 years ago, but with the graphics card shortages, etc…I was put off it. Then when I finally got my Xbox Series X a few weeks ago, I finally got it and it was totally worth every single second of the wait.

On the Xbox series X, it runs 95% perfect. At times (especially when using an exterior camera angle) it the frame rate drops down a little, but otherwise it catches up back to smooth very quick. Yes its a MASSIVE install ,but that’s to be expected. The base install took a few hours here, mixed in with the updates. Then another hour or so for the USA extra packages etc. Aircraft selection is decent in the standard version and I like how the marketplace has more airports, area, aircraft etc to download/buy. The best thing about this is the graphics and true to life satellite imagery. Also the live METARs weather, time and live traffic….This brings me back 20 years when i wanted to get my pilots license, but at the time it became too expensive to keep up with it. Now flying over the areas I used fly in, local airports with decent to exact imagery….its insane. Ill be getting a yoke setup eventually, as it should help with my one complaint of the sim. The ability to fly while controlling the cockpit, making communications, heading adjustments, flight plan info, ATIS,….while flying (then pressing the L stick to active the menus and controls) is clunky. hopefully a yoke setup will alleviate some of the control burden at least. Pausing the sim, is a little bit of a reality breaker. The game could use small improvements here and there, but none are deal breakers. Wish it had a lite version of Foreflight or access to FAA sectional charts, airport cards etc. Especially on ground taxiing. They can be had outside of MS FS, but its one of those things where…if you want to take the game seriously, you’ll invest ( if you’re not a private or commercial pilot already). But if you’re not, getting that extra info starts to add up. But provide just basic FAA sectionals, airport cards. Another fun idea would be id the sim also threw in live NOTAM’s Otherwise this is the best investment I made in a while.

I’ve used flight simulator for 20 years, and this is the buggiest version.

The developers for the new flight simulator must have started over, to create a version that could run on multiple platforms.

When creating and managing flights, there are many bugs, when using the keyboard, mouse, and controller, to select airports, and runways.

The earth globe starts spinning out of control if you try to use the mouse to select an area.

Sometimes the weather is not saved with the flight. Certain aspects of a flight cannot be re-saved. Saved flight files can apparently get corrupted, then the menu toolbar disappears, and many flight options are not available.

I spent an entire day just trying to set up one flight, with weather, radio, runways, and it’s still not right.

These bugs have been discussed, on forums, for over 2 years now, and they are still not fixed.

If you’re like me and don’t like the digital version because you like the hard copies then this is the way to go! The game is awesome too!
